A Map of Good Memories
24-carat gold leaf on floor
300 x 175 cm
In A Map of Good Memories, Stéphanie Saadé remembered twenty good memories of her life in Lebanon from her childhood to 2015. She retraced the trajectories related to these memories on a map and assembled them to form a closed shape, respecting their scale and orientation. They enclose a sentimental territory and draw the outlines of a “geographical self-portrait”. Made of pure gold, the work is realised directly on the floor. The precious metal is altered by the steps of the visitors; as they travel on it, it disappears under their feet.
