Portrait of a Lake
Print on cotton partially waterproofed at the back, hemp strings, 3 laters of water produced daily by a dehumidifier and poured on the map manually
Size of fabric: 200 x 300 cm
Portrait of a Lake is a suspended piece of map hanging above us, showing us the outlines of a lake and its surroundings. As water is poured on it, the representation of the lake, dating back from 1938, becomes humid again; the lake is reactivated. As it crosses the representation of the lake, water becomes water from the lake. Dripping down onto the floor, it slowly draws the outlines of the lake anew; A self-portrait, drawn by the lake itself, with its own material.
